Code Cycle: 2016 Standards
Compliance criteria for HERS verification of Airflow/Fan-Efficacy is based on the condenser capacity (tonnage) but currently the Efficiency Standards do not define how that capacity would be divided among multiple ducted zones connected to the same condenser. Therefore, based on a clarification received from the CEC, when a VRF condenser serves more than one zone and at least one of those zones is ducted, the following directions shall be applied to field verification and reporting results in the CalCERTS registry.
Note: This clarification does not apply to single zone systems which shall use standard verification protocols.
Airflow/Fan-Efficacy – HERS Verification for cooling coil airflow and fan efficacy shall be exempt for ducted multi-split indoor units. Although the CF1R document may show this verification as “required,” this exemption is subsequently reported on the CF2R-MCH-01 compliance document.
